Understand the language of Scripture Explore idioms, metaphors, euphemisms, hyperbole, and other figures of speech in clear, everyday language. A person cannot rightly perceive God’s revelation because unbelief blocks understanding. People in a large house have different moral uses, and cleansing makes a servant useful to the Master. Godly wisdom is portrayed as a woman publicly inviting people to learn and live. Godly wisdom nourishes, preserves, and brings life-giving blessing. Dangerous deceivers who appear harmless or faithful. Speech can wound, deceive, attack, or destroy people. “World” can mean humanity organized in unbelief, values opposed to God, or the present sinful system.
