Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christian by biblical standards. Although they speak of Jesus and use the Bible, their doctrines reject core truths of the Christian faith, including the deity of Christ, the nature of salvation, and the sufficiency of Scripture.
They teach that Jesus is not God but a created being (Michael the Archangel). This denies His eternal deity, clearly affirmed in Scripture:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
“And Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!'” (John 20:28)
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe salvation requires faith plus works, participation in their organization, and loyalty to the Watchtower Society. This contradicts the biblical gospel:
“By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
They deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus, teaching He was raised as a spirit. But Jesus Himself affirmed otherwise:
“Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” (Luke 24:39)
Jehovah’s Witnesses also produced the New World Translation, a version of the Bible that alters key verses to align with their doctrine. This directly violates Scripture:
“You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it.” (Deuteronomy 4:2)
Additionally, their denial of the Holy Trinity and teaching on the 144,000 further set them apart from the historic Christian faith.
Paul warned:
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8)
Jehovah’s Witnesses may be sincere, but they preach a different gospel and follow a different Jesus. They are not a Christian denomination.
