What does the Bible say about heaven?

By Joshua Andreasen | Founder of Unforsaken

Heaven is described in Scripture as the eternal dwelling place of God and the final home for all who are in Christ. John 14:2-3 records Jesus’ promise, “In My Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you… I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Heaven is a place of glory, joy, and unending fellowship with God. Revelation 21:3-4 says, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men… And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.” It is free from pain, sin, and suffering.

Philippians 3:20 tells us, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Heaven is not merely a location, but the fulfillment of every promise made to God’s people.

The righteous will dwell there forever. Psalm 16:11 says, “In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” 2 Corinthians 5:1 assures believers of a heavenly, eternal house not made with hands.

Entrance into heaven is only through Christ. John 14:6 declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Heaven is the believer’s hope, inheritance, and reward—secure and eternal.
