The Bible does not specifically use the term “transgender,” but it clearly speaks to God’s design for gender and the sanctity of how He created each person. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Gender is not fluid or chosen; it is created by God with purpose and meaning.
Deuteronomy 22:5 states, “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.” This verse reflects God’s command to maintain the distinctiveness of male and female as He designed.
God does not make mistakes. Psalm 139:13-14 affirms, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Attempting to alter one’s biological sex is a denial of God’s design and a rejection of His sovereignty.
The New Testament also affirms gender roles and identity. 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 teaches that natural distinctions between men and women are to be honored. While cultural expressions of gender may vary, the created distinction remains fixed.
Those struggling with gender confusion are not to be mocked or hated, but called to repentance and offered the hope of transformation through Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 lists those who will not inherit the kingdom of God, including the effeminate, but it also says, “And such were some of you. But you were washed… justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
God’s design is good. The solution is not self-alteration, but surrender. He alone gives identity, value, and peace.
