The law of the offerings repeated instructions for the priests to emphasize accuracy, reinforce holiness, and ensure that the sacrificial system was administered exactly as God commanded. These repetitions highlighted the seriousness of their duties and the need for complete obedience in handling holy things.
Leviticus 6:9 says:
“Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: The burnt offering shall be on the hearth upon the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.’”
By repeating these laws, God reminded the priests that their service was not casual but sacred. Failure to follow His instructions precisely could result in severe judgment, as seen in the case of Nadab and Abihu (Leviticus 10:1–2).
Repetition also ensured clarity and continuity for future generations. These statutes were to be upheld perpetually, making it vital that every detail was clearly communicated and understood.
Spiritually, this repetition reflects the importance of reverence and faithfulness in worship. It foreshadowed the perfect obedience of Christ, who fulfilled the law entirely and offered Himself without blemish to God (Hebrews 9:14).
