Racism is sin, plain and simple. It stands against the truth that all humans are created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Every person, regardless of skin color or ethnic background, bears the image of the Creator.
The idea of different “races” is not biblical, it is a man-made construct. The Bible teaches that there is only one race: the human race. Acts 17:26 affirms this, “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.” While there are ethnic differences and physical variations, all people are descended from Adam and Eve, and all share the same need for redemption.
Galatians 3:28 speaks to the unity found in Christ: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” The gospel unites, it does not divide.
Jesus broke through ethnic and social barriers throughout His ministry. He spoke with the Samaritan woman (John 4), praised the faith of a Roman centurion (Matthew 8:10), and healed a Canaanite woman’s daughter (Matthew 15:28). These were not just miracles, they were demonstrations of the gospel crossing cultural boundaries.
James 2:9 says, “But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.” Racism, favoritism, and discrimination have no place in the heart of a believer.
Revelation 7:9 gives a picture of heaven—“a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne.” In eternity, God’s people are diverse in ethnicity but united in Christ. That unity must begin now, in His Church.
