Can a Christian be pro-choice?

No, a Christian cannot be pro-choice if they are faithfully following the teachings of Scripture. The Bible is unequivocal in its affirmation of the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception. To support the deliberate taking of innocent life is to oppose God’s moral standard.

Life begins in the womb:

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13–14)

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

God regards the unborn as fully human, made in His image. To end that life is to shed innocent blood:

“These six things the Lord hates… hands that shed innocent blood.” (Proverbs 6:16–17)

Children are a gift, not a burden:

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” (Psalm 127:3)

The right to life is not subject to personal preference or political ideology. Scripture never presents pregnancy as a problem to be solved but as a blessing to be stewarded.

The gospel offers forgiveness for all sin, including abortion, but it does not permit continuing in sin:

“Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:1–2)

Being pro-life is not a political stance, it is a biblical one. Christians must speak the truth in love, defend the voiceless, and call for repentance and restoration in Christ.

“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.” (Proverbs 24:11)
