Heart strikes, smites, or condemns
Here’s what it means
The conscience troubles a person and produces guilt.
Why the Bible says it this way
The heart acts like an inner witness accusing the person after wrongdoing.
An idiom is a familiar phrase whose meaning comes from the whole expression, not from reading each word by itself.
