Gnash the teeth
Here’s what it means
To show fierce anger, anguish, or despair.
Why the Bible says it this way
The exact emotion depends on the context: enemies gnash in rage, while judgment scenes stress distress and regret.
An idiom is a familiar phrase whose meaning comes from the whole expression, not from reading each word by itself.
