Feared a great fear
Here’s what it means
Became extremely afraid or filled with awe.
Why the Bible says it this way
The noun repeats the verbal idea in a Semitic pattern of emphasis.
An idiom is a familiar phrase whose meaning comes from the whole expression, not from reading each word by itself.
