Face of the earth / ground
Here’s what it means
The surface of the land or, in broad contexts, the whole inhabited world.
Why the Bible says it this way
The phrase does not mean that the earth has a literal human face.
An idiom is a familiar phrase whose meaning comes from the whole expression, not from reading each word by itself.
