God’s name was placed upon the people through blessing as a sign that they belonged to Him and lived under His authority, protection, and favor. The blessing declared that their security, peace, and prosperity flowed from being under the Lord’s name.
“So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” (Numbers 6:27)
