Sex is created by God and is declared good when practiced within the boundaries He established—between one man and one woman in marriage. In Genesis 2:24, the foundation is laid: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” This union is both physical and spiritual.
The Song of Solomon celebrates sexual love within marriage. Hebrews 13:4 affirms, “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” This clearly distinguishes between holy and unholy sexual behavior.
Sex outside of marriage, whether fornication, adultery, homosexuality, or any other form, is sin. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 includes fornicators and adulterers among those who will not inherit the kingdom of God. Verse 18 commands, “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”
Sex is not dirty or shameful in its proper context. Paul even writes in 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 that husbands and wives should not deprive one another, except for a time of fasting and prayer, because their bodies belong to each other.
God’s design for sex is for intimacy, unity, and procreation within marriage. Any deviation from this design is sin and brings destruction.
