Do pets go to heaven?

The Bible does not specifically say whether individual pets go to heaven, but it does teach that animals are part of God’s creation and that they will have a role in His future restoration of all things. Animals were created by God and declared good:

“Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind…’ And God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:24–25)

Animals were present in the Garden of Eden before the fall and are shown in prophetic visions of the future kingdom. Isaiah describes a time of peace where animals dwell together in harmony:

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat… and a little child shall lead them.” (Isaiah 11:6)

This passage points to a restored creation where animals exist in a redeemed world. Romans 8 also speaks of all creation longing for liberation:

“For the creation was subjected to futility… because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” (Romans 8:20–21)

While this does not guarantee the resurrection of individual pets, it does indicate that animals will be present in God’s future kingdom. Revelation shows living creatures worshiping God around His throne:

“And the four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty…'” (Revelation 4:8)

Though these are angelic beings, this confirms that non-human beings have a place in God’s heavenly realm. God cares for animals and provides for them:

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.” (Luke 12:6)

“The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” (Psalm 145:9)

Scripture does not speak of animals having eternal souls in the same way as humans, but it does teach that they are part of God’s creation and future renewal. Whether or not a specific pet is in heaven is not directly answered, but believers can trust in God’s goodness and justice. He will make all things right and restore all creation under His perfect rule.
