1 tim 611 final

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

In 1 Timothy 6:12, Paul encourages Timothy to fight the good fight of faith, but the verse before that tells us how exactly to do that.  First, the Word instructs us to flee from the previously mentioned attributes of evil men, which are: pride, ignorance, arguing, strife, evil suspicions, corrupt minds and the love of money.  These are all the things the world loves, but a man of God has been redeemed from these things.  We don’t with fight pride and arrogance, because those are the fruits of a worldly man.  No, Paul instructs us to fight the spiritual battle we are in with the fruits of the Spirit, which are righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, patience and gentleness.  These are not the only fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22, but these are often areas where predominately men fall short, and it is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can be firmly planted speaking truth in righteousness with love, patience and gentleness.  All of these attributes bring together the summation of what it means to be a meek person.  Meek is best describe as being under submission of the will of God, regardless of how we feel.

So today, I challenge you.  When you are given an opportunity to argue or lash out in anger, submit yourself to the will of God and carry yourself in a manner of humility and honor.
